Momentum Arts
Welcome to Momentum Arts!
Passionate about creativity, diversity and social inclusion, Momentum Arts is a catalyst for social change. We engage, inspire and connect people and communities in the East of England through creative arts projects.
Momentum Arts is a registered charity,
established in 1993, which develops creative arts projects that engage, empower and connect people and communities. We aspire to be a catalyst for social change and our inclusive projects often see us working with people on the margins of our society.
A quick summary.
We work with socially engaged artists and diverse communities to create and deliver innovative art projects. Our dynamic approach to the arts and creative learning helps to stimulate creativity and enrich the experience of people both in the UK and internationally.
A little more detail.
Momentum Arts works with
young people,
adults,
communities,
international networks and targeted groups. Our creative learning and accredited training sees us working in a variety of art forms such as drama, film-making, graffiti, creative writing and graphic design. These creative projects aim to champion the experiences of everyone we work with, actively increasing social participation and offering alternative ways of learning which can raise self esteem, improve well being and break down social barriers.
Some more information about the work and experiences of momentum arts.
We are committed to improving social cohesion and we provide inclusive opportunities for people and communities near and far. We work with talented, socially engaged artists and partner a wide range of organisations and providers, from local councils and the YMCA, to European research councils and national arts organisations.
Our international profile is growing but we are just as passionate about our locality and much of our work is focused around culturally diverse rural and inner-city areas in the East of England. These communities have produced some of the most exciting outcomes.
“Creativity was cultivated in a way that was so liberating because it was OK to be you and to be real.”
Participant, Being Here Project.
Momentum Arts are committed to sharing and celebrating the contributions of all those we work with, often through community showcases of young people’s work, as well as more high profile exhibitions and dissemination events. The social return of investing in these communities is manifold; our work improves the quality of the lives of people in the UK and beyond and, in doing so, champions the experience of the individual, increases social well being and provides far reaching intercultural understanding.
Valuing and sharing what we learn
We learn something new each time we undertake a project and an important part of our philosophy is to share these learnings with other people who might want to try something similar, or with policy makers that can influence how arts projects are designed and funded in the future.
