About

About us

Momentum Arts works with socially engaged artists and diverse communities to create and deliver exciting and innovative art projects. Our dynamic approach to the arts and creative learning helps to stimulate creativity and enrich the experience of people and communities. Our fresh approach to the arts encourages people to share ideas, meet new people and develop their artistic and personal skills.

We believe the arts to be a powerful tool with which to provide valuable learning opportunities for everyone we work with. We support all of our participants on their own journey to take part, learn new skills and explore and realise their potential. It's the talent and imagination of all of these participants that provide amazing insights into individuals and communities.

What do we do?

Momentum Arts works with the creative arts in the areas of Diversity and Inclusion and Regeneration both in the East of England and at an international level.

Our work includes delivery of the following:

• Accredited Work Based Learning through Open College Network

• Artist Professional Development
• Creative Arts Workshops and Courses
• Creative Team Building
• Employability Training for Unemployed Adults
• Creative Curriculum Enrichment for Young People through Film and Visual Arts

• Intercultural Learning and Community Engagement

We also exhibit some of the work created on our projects:

Our work reflects the voices of the people in both the East of England and internationally by celebrating their vibrancy and multiculturalism and listening to those whose voices sometimes don’t get heard. Our cache of experienced and talented artist facilitators means we work across a broad spectrum of art-forms.

Here at Momentum Arts we value unexpected outcomes and sometimes it’s the most unusual projects that produce the most exciting results. For instance: did you know that Archbishop John Sentamu was voted one of Cambridgeshire’s top ten Black and Asian Local and Historical role models? Or that we worked with Street Children in Durban, South Africa during the Street Child World Cup to provide creative opportunities for them to explore issues important to them and, in doing so, raise the profile of Street Children around the world?

Some of the groups we work with include:

• Young People at risk of NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training)
• Disadvantaged Young People
• Unemployed Adults
• Migrant Communities

Valuing and sharing what we learn
Momentum Arts really values the people it works with and an important aspect of this is supporting the talented socially engaged artists we collaborate with by providing continuing training (link to Exposure) and exciting professional development opportunities.

We learn something new each time we undertake a project and an important part of our philosophy is to share these learning experiences with other people who might want to try something similar, or with policy makers that can influence how arts projects are designed and funded in the future. Contact us for more information on current Momentum Arts publications.
