The Street Child World Cup demonstrates the tremendous potential of every single child, and especially street children, who are so often treated as less than human. I urge all governments to guarantee the rights of this most marginalised group of their citizens to lives in which their promise is fulfilled.

Team India have won the inaugural Deloitte Street Child World Championship! In March of this year teams of street children from eight different countries travelled to Durban, South Africa to compete in the first ever tournament of this kind.

Whilst not on the pitch the children all took part in a range of arts activities provided by the Momentum Arts' team. Street children and local school children worked together to investigate themes such as protection from violence and the right to shelter and education. They produced numerous pieces of art using the mediums of clay modelling, collage, pastel portraiture and photography. The art works were collected and used to create a huge installation entitled The Hive which formed part of the Interactive Street Child Experience exhibition that will be on display at Durban Art Gallery until 11th July 2010.
The Interactive Street Child Experience brings together the multiple art works that have been inspired by this unique tournament. UK artists and South African artists from the Ekukhoseleni Creactive Centre worked together to create these pieces with the common aim of communicating the experience of street children from around the world.
