“No child should have to live on the streets - I commend the Street Child World Cup for providing a platform for the rights of street children to be heard" Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, Former Prime Minister

The first ever Street Child World Cup took place between 10th and 21st of March in Durban, South Africa. Street children from eight countries came together to play football and find their voices through the game they love.

The tournament was the centrepiece of a conference designed to bring people from all over the world together so that they could listen to the street children. Their voices were heard by businesses, governments, and members of the public, and led to the creation of a Street Child Manifesto, launching a campaign calling for their rights to be respected.

At Momentum Arts, delivered a unique an arts programme that ran arn concurrently to the tournament which enabled street children to tell their stories through art, sculpture and drama in order to bring these stories to a global audience. During the Street Child World Cup, an international team of artists worked with the children to create a unique platform for self-expression. They created theatre, art and interactive installations that were exhibited in Durban Art Gallery from 21st March 2010 until July 2010.
