Welcome to Momentum Arts!

Passionate about creativity, diversity and inclusion - Momentum Arts is catalyst for social change. We engage, inspire and connect people and communities in the East of England through creative arts projects.

About us
Momentum Arts works with diverse communities and artists to create imaginative arts projects. Our fresh approach to the arts encourages local people to share ideas, meet new people, and develop their artistic and personal skills. It’s the talent and imagination of these participants that provide amazing insights into the people and places of the East of England.

What we do
Momentum Arts works with the arts in two broad areas of activity:

  • Diversity
  • Inclusion and regeneration

Our work reflects the voices of the people of the East of England, celebrating its multiculturalism and listening to those who sometimes don’t get heard. This means that we work with all sorts of people from young men at YMCA’s through to shop-keepers on Mill Road. Because we work with lots of different people and because everyone is inspired by different activities, Momentum Arts works across all art-forms.

Sometimes it’s the most unusual projects that produce the most exciting results! Did you know that: you can take photos using an old tin can; Archbishop John Sentamu visited the Fitzwilliam museum last year; artists worked with young people to create a whole new font which we can all write with; Olaudah Equiano, who was central to the movement to abolish the slave trade, has strong links to Cambridgeshire?

Valuing and sharing what we learn
Momentum Arts really values the people it works with and an important part of our work is to support the talented artists we collaborate with, by providing continuing training and professional development opportunities.

We learn something new each time we undertake a project! An important part of our philosophy is to share these learning experiences with other people who might want to try something similar or policy makers that can influence how arts projects are constructed and funded in the future. Contact us for more information on current Momentum Arts publications.
